what is the field kit?
The Curiosity Field Kit is a simple, card-based tool designed to help people think more clearly about the world around them—and participate in it with greater intention.
It is built on a simple idea: curiosity is not just a personality trait— it is a practice that can be learned.
When used intentionally, curiosity helps people slow down, look more closely, and engage more thoughtfully with the people, systems and decision that shape shared life.
The Field Kit guides users through a structured three-step process that supports how we make sense of what we see—and how we choose to engage or respond.
HOW IT WORKS
The Curiosity Field Kit is organized around a three-step process that helps people make sense of everyday situations with greater clarity and intention. Each step is supported by a collection of cards. Each card connects to one part of the process, allowing users to enter at different points while still engaging in a structured way of thinking about how they see, what may be shaping what they see in everyday life, and how they want to respond.
The cards are not meant to be used in a fixed sequence. Instead, they can be selected—intentionally or at random—to prompt reflection, guide conversation, or support real-time application.
Together, the cards and steps provide a simple way to think more clearly about what is happening—and to decide how to engage with greater intention.
-

Step 1:
Seeing Clearly
Focuses on recognizing our own perspective. These cards help users identify the experiences, assumptions, values, and habits of attention they bring to how they see the world.
-

Step 2
Understanding Systems
Directs users to examine the structures, forces, and patterns shaping what is happening beneath the surface of everyday life.
-

Step 3:
Acting with Intention
Guides users in how they choose to respond, communicate, and engage based on what they have noticed and understood. The focus is on intentional and relational engagement as an agent member of society.
WHY IT MATTERS
In many settings—classrooms, workplaces, and public life—people are often asked to respond to complex situations without being supported in how to understand them.
There is pressure to have a perspective, to take a position, or to react quickly—but much less space to slow down, look more closely, and ask better questions about what is actually happening.
The Curiosity Field Kit is designed to change that.
By helping people examine how they see, understand what is shaping a situation, and decide how they want to engage, the Field Kit builds skills that support clearer thinking, deeper understanding, and more intentional participation.
Over time, this work strengthens people’s ability to engage thoughtfully with others, navigate complexity, and participate in shared and civic life with greater awareness and agency.
