Global Equity Forward emerged during a moment of profound global pause - when the pandemic stripped away illusion and forced the world to see what had long gone unseen. As systems were disrupted and routines suspended, space opened for reflection, for reimagining what equity, connection, and community could truly mean.

Out of that convergence of crisis and possibility, GEF took shape—first through shared learning and dialogue, then expanding into advisory and training partnerships that helped organizations and individuals navigate change with intention and care. Today, it continues as a creative studio for growth and action, bridging insight and implementation to turn awareness into meaningful, sustained change.

Through strategy sessions, learning tools, and guided experiences, GEF continues to grow at the intersection of curiosity, compassion, and collective progress.

Meet the Founder - Dr. Mya Fisher

The vision behind the work.

Dr. Mya Fisher, founder of Global Equity Forward, sociologist and strategist.

Dr. Mya Fisher is a sociologist, strategist and founder of Global Equity Forward. With more than two decades of experience in cross-cultural training, international education, and nonprofit leadership, she helps individuals and organizations design meaningful, sustainable change rooted in reflection and action.

Her global perspective and deep expertise inform every project she leads. Her work spans corporate, nonprofit, and educational sectors, with a particular focus on U.S.–Asia exchange and Japan–U.S. relations. Under her guidance, Global Equity Forward has developed learning experiences and strategic programs that invite people to ask critical questions, act on their insights, and embed equity-driven practices into global systems for lasting impact.

Mya founded Global Equity Forward during a period of global pause and profound reflection — a moment when individuals and institutions alike were rethinking how they connect, learn, and lead. What began as a conversation-based learning experience soon expanded into advisory partnerships, trainings, and global collaborations helping organizations and communities translate awareness into action.

Today, GEF continues to evolve as both a creative studio and learning platform, blending strategy, storytelling, and design to help people and systems grow toward dignity, care, and shared responsibility.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Williams College, an M.A. in International Education from New York University, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
